How to wash a wig
Don't know how to clean a wig ?
Do not panic ! Below is our recommended method for properly washing your wig. Just follow these steps below.
Step 1: Gather the Tools
To ensure an experience of successful washing , you will need:
- A basin or sink filled with cold water
- A Shampoo
- A comb
- A clean towel
- A wig stand
Step 2: Detangle
Use a wig comb to gently remove knots.
Tip: NEVER try to force or pull out stubborn knots, this can tear the synthetic fibers and damage the wig cap.
Step 3: Wet the wig
Next, you need to fill your sink with cold water (hot water can damage your wig).
- Add 1 tablespoon of wig shampoo into the water.
- Immerse your wig under water for 1-5 minutes.
Tip: Be sure not to rub the wig; just let it soak. - Once your wig is soaked , remove it from the water and start gently running your fingers over the edges of the wig cap , focusing on areas where sweat and dirt show up.
Step 4: Rinse
Run cold water over your wig until all of the shampoo has been rinsed out.
Step 5: Conditioner
Once you have Rinsed your wig , apply a small amount of conditioner to the entire length of the hair, completely avoiding the wig cap. Rinse thoroughly with cold water. Another method is to spray your wig very lightly with a conditioning spray.
Step 6: Dry
Be gentle with your wet wig.
Never attempt to comb wet hair as this can damage and fray the fibers.
Now place your wig on a towel. Use the towel to gently blot the wig to remove excess water. Do not rub, squeeze or wring out your locks. Once the water has been removed, place the wig on a wig stand and let it dry naturally.
TO CLEAN YOUR WIG:
- Never try to dry your locks : Drying in the open air is the only solution! Heat resistant synthetic hair can be blow dried, but it is always best to air dry the hair whenever possible.
- Never brush or comb a wet wig.
- Use only products designed for hair on your wig.
With these instructions and tips, your wig should look totally stunning!
